I'm scared, wondering why get married
Everywhere I look, people look harried
Question is, is this what it's going to be
People fighting and everywhere misery
The vow is for better or for worse
Truth is they're uttering a binding curse
They stop speaking love languages
Instead they slap on temporary bandages
Time slips by and leaves each astounded
They've lost their love, and they're confounded
Surely it wouldn't leave just like that
Surely they would last each and every spat
But here they are, the truth it does tell
Happiness lasts but a short spell
Once they forget to fight, but fight to forget
On all sides problems do abound and beset
And so I'm questioning this institution
This contrary thing, the marriage constitution
Two ways it can go, which way you'll never know
Until you're sailing easy or sinking slow
Whether you've chosen right
Or subjected yourself to a miserable plight.
